This is just a quick message from your Executive Board.
It is the time of year that people reflect on everything that has happened over the year.
For our Local we have had some bumps but we are finding our way down the road, we hope that all of our members have an easy journey down their roads next year.

One bargaining session has been scheduled at the Y to discuss the upcoming holiday season.
For anyone who is actively checking our site, you have probably noticed that there have been a few cancelled bargaining sessions in a row.
Not to worry, there is nothing wrong. The first & second missed dates were due to unforeseen family obligation’s. Todays was cancelled due to illness.
Hopefully we will be back on track for the next session, but regardless, we will keep everyone posted, just keep checking the site or the union board in the kitchen.
Due to a reorganization within the CUPE Ottawa Offices we have been assigned a new National Representative. His name is Stéphane Lalonde.
By-Elections were held for the following Officers positions:
Secretary-Treasurer – Masoumeh Gooya – acclaimed
3-year Trustee – Abdenbi Zouitni – acclaimed
2-year Trustee – Valerie – acclaimed (moved from the 3-year spot to the 2-year spot)
Elections were held for the following Committee Chairs:
Grievance Committee – Masoumeh Gooya – acclaimed
Joint Health and Safety Committee – Charlie O’Neil – acclaimed
Social Committee – Chantal Davis – acclaimed
The By-Laws for CUPE 5209 were passed unanimously at the membership meeting tonight.
The meeting needed to be re-scheduled to November 12, 2014 at 6:30PM. The meeting will be held at the CUPE Ottawa Offices, 1378 Triole Street, Ottawa.
Unfortunately we cannot schedule our meetings at a time where everyone can attend. Our last meeting was during the day so in the spirit of fairness this one is scheduled in the evening.
A by-election is being held for the position of Secretary-Treasurer and the 3-year Trustee.
Elections will also be held for the position of Chairperson of the Grievance Committee, Chairperson of the Health and Safety Committee and the Chairperson of the Social Committee.
If you are interested in any of these positions but are unable to attend, nominations will be accepted in writing, for specific positions that you are interested in. You can send an e-mail to 5209CUPE@gmail.com or you can express your interest in a position on the website.
We hope to see everyone there and we look forward to moving forward with our union and creating more options for everyone to get involved.
