Anti-Black racism is a fatal, destructive force in our society afflicting communities of colour & holding us all back. Canada’s unions are committed to fighting against all forms of discrimination & calling for urgent, systemic change.

Anti-Black racism runs deep but so does our commitment towards combatting it

We have rescheduled our GMM to Wednesday, December 13 at 7PM

We need to hold elections for several new positions that have been created with the addition of the Aquatics Department.

• Election of Taggart Housing Department Health & Safety Officer
• Election of Taggart Aquatics Health & Safety Officer
• Election of Ruddy Aquatics Health & Safety Officer
• Election of Carlingwood Aquatics Health & Safety Officer
• Election of Clarence-Rockland Aquatics Health & Safety Officer

The Election of the Health & Safety Chair will be conducted after the site/department officers have been elected and they will choose their own chair.

• Election of Clarence-Rockland Aquatics Steward

The Election of the Grievance Chair will be conducted after the site/department stewards have been elected and they will choose their own chair.

We need to hold 3 votes:

•  We need to increase the budget for the party by an additional $500
• Amend the By-Laws to include newly created Union positions required with the addition of the Aquatics Department & to have the By-Laws reflect how we have been operating since the inception of the Union
• Start collecting dues from Aquatics – same process was used with the Housing Department; the rationale is to continue building a bank account for trainings & conferences.

In the spirit of fairness and in an attempt to insure equal access to the meetings, GMM’s alternate – 1 meeting during the day, the next in the evening; this one is scheduled during the evening.

February, June & October’s meetings will be held at 6PM
April, August & December’s meetings will be held at 1PM.

We had a busy spring/ summer and with the hint of fall in the air it is time for some housekeeping. We have a few positions that have become vacant so a By-Election is needed. We also have our regular Elections for the year as well.

Originally we had a Membership Meeting scheduled for October 6 but it had to be rescheduled. Instead we had an Executive Meeting in that time slot.

We only have 2 bargaining sessions scheduled for the month of October. Unfortunately, the first one scheduled had to be cancelled due to a family emergency. Hopefully, the second one will be very productive.

We will be holding an Executive Board Meeting this month.

We will only have 1 bargaining session and 1 bargaining prep meeting this month.
